Sia - introduction

ie:music started managing Sia in 2000. We had been sent some tracks from her debut album 'Healing Is Difficult' and were immediately struck by her truly unique voice and no bullshit lyrics.

On meeting Sia we knew we wanted to work with her, she has that genuine star quality matched by a great sense of humour and a turn of phrase that is quirky even by Australian standards.

Since the release of her first album, 'Healing Is Difficult', Sia has enjoyed world-wide success and recognition as a featured artiste on Zero 7's last three albums. Sia co-wrote and performed on the Mercury Nominated album 'Simple Things' and their Grammy nominated album 'The Garden'. She has gained a cult following through extensive touring, both as a solo singer and as part of Zero 7, in Europe and the US.

Sia's second album, 'Colour The Small One', was released through Go Beat/Island Records in the UK and later on in the USA through Astralwerks. 'Breathe Me' was featured in the unforgettable final scene of the 'Six Feet Under' series finale, sales of which surged, literally overnight, following the airing of the episode, with fans trying to get hold of the hauntingly beautiful track.

Sia has also spent time co-directing/directing a number of her promotional videos (Breathe Me, Sunday, Pictures and Don't Bring Me Down-Live). She has also been maintaining contact with her burgeoning online following, through her forum posts, extremely popular blog entries (four of which were used for a Channel 4/Slash Music online exclusive) and new self-directed/edited video blogs. Her MySpace page has grown organically to become an online phenomenon, totalling over 5 million track plays. The page had 115,000 unique views in March alone and this statistic is currently rising significantly. In addition, Sia created the design for her official website, launched late last year, and was awarded Website of the Year by leading music blog Popjustice.com.

Sia's new album, 'some people have REAL problems', was released in January 2008 and, at No.26, was the highest debut entry week of release on the Billboard 200 Chart. Sia has recently performed tracks from this album on NBC's Late Night With Conan O'Brien and ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live as well as playing a number of in-store shows, including Virgin Megastore, Starbucks and Apple in New York as well as one at Amoeba Records in LA to an 800-strong crowd!

Sia's February and March tour dates for North America are selling out and her April date at London's 1300 capacity Koko sold out three months in advance. A UK tour for April has been announced and Sia will also be appearing at SxSW Festival and Coachella Festival.

Sia continues to be a true Web 2.0 artist, dedicating time to her online fanbase through her award-winning website, MySpace page and highly active forum. Her MySpace page statistics are phenomenal, with 4 million visits and over 8.5 million plays. Furthermore, the leaked video to her track Buttons turned into a highly successful viral, gaining over 1 million plays, international press and becoming the most popular music video that week on YouTube.Sia is currently recording her next solo album, due for release 2007, and will be touring the UK, Europe and the US in the Autumn.
